Meet the Speakers
Chris Lien
An active member of the U.S. mailing industry for more than 15 years, Chris Lien, Executive Vice President at BCC Software,
Inc., is a sought-after speaker at mailing-related conferences and events, and frequently delivers presentations at the
National Postal Forum, Mailcom, Graph Expo, and many regional Postal Customer Councils. He has written numerous industry
articles related to address quality, and hosted many online webinars on that topic and others.
Chris has authored several software solutions utilizing Mail.dat for electronic auditing, distribution and logistics planning,
palletization, and electronic postage payment. His commitment to the betterment of the industry is evident in his involvement
in such groups as the Association for Postal Commerce, the Mailing & Fulfillment Service Association, IDEAlliance and the
Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers. He is the IDEAlliance representative to the Mailers Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC), and
was most recently elected industry focus group leader for address accuracy in MTAC. Prior to joining BCC in 2007, Chris served
as director of commercial mail marketing for Business Objects.
Twyla J. Cummings, Ph.D.
Twyla J. Cummings, Ph.D. is the Paul and Louise Miller Distinguished Professor and Graduate Program Director in the School
of Print Media at Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Cummings provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in the
areas of media industries analysis, media distribution and research methods.
Dr. Cummings’ research is focused in the areas of media distribution and printing industry trends. Additionally, she is a
frequent speaker on critical trends in post-press and issues impacting the Graphic Communications Industry as a whole. She
is Board member of NAPL and serves on the Board of Governors for the R & E Council of NAPL. She is a member of the prestigious
Walter E. Soderstrom and Nonpareil Societies of NAPL and the R & E Council.
Twyla possesses both a B.S. Degree in Chemistry and a M.S. Degree in Business and Industrial Management from Wright State
University in Dayton, Ohio. She earned her Doctoral Degree in Management from The Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In addition to her professional commitments, Dr. Cummings is actively involved in the Rochester community, serving as a member of
the Steering Committee of the Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation. Previously, she served as Board Chair for the YWCA of
Rochester and as a Board Member for the Rochester Women’s Network.
